In this short melodic study I demonstrate how you can apply the material from my CHROMATIC METHENYISMS - "Arpeggios ala Matini" (Vol. 1 and 2) studies over basic ii-V7-I-VI7 progressions. These chromatically ornamented four note arpeggios are a great melodic device to capture the harmonic movements and trajectory of a chord progression while maintaining a rich and colorful balance of inside and outside notes in your improvisations.

The accompanying video contains all examples performed at tempo as well as slowed down and in the transcription you will find a detailed description of the specific articulation and phrasing used to achieve the melodic sensibility and feel of Metheny.
